Your contribution will serve as your RSVP for Storytime, and guarantee you a photo-op with Black Santa and a signed-by-Black Santa copy of the book “Santa Claus is Coming to the Town.”

EVENT TIME: Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 4PM

LOCATION: MiJa Books, 500 Lakewood Center Mall, Lakewood, CA 90712 (Across from Macy’s)

You can choose your price of admission. Funds will be used to help cover event expenses, and allow us to continue hosting events like this for our community.

*NOTE: Santa will be present from 4PM-7PM. If you cannot make it for the 4PM storytime, your contribution will still guarantee a signed book and photo-op with Black Santa between the hours of 4PM-7PM.

Santa Claus is Coming to the Town

“There is only one Mr. Claus and this is how he gets down. Santa Claus is Coming to The Town!” Santa Claus is Coming to The Town is a rhyming whimsical story that makes you feel nostalgic. The story takes place in Oakland, California and includes some of the author’s favorite locations. This lyrical story features a melanated Santa, celebrates the magic of Christmas, and will have you singing along while you read.

Hey carter books

Founded by Thomishia Booker, Hey Carter! Books (HCB)  curates experiences, curriculum,  products that support Black children in building a positive racial identity. HCB is focused on increasing representation and ensuring Black children, specifically boys are reflected positively in all forms of media.

Founders Stephanie Moran Reed, Muammar Reed, and their daughter Mireya Jamila Reed.

Our Mission

At MiJa Books, we aim to promote representation 365 days a year. Our book catalogue features stories by authors and illustrators of color, stories featuring characters of color, multicultural stories, bilingual stories, and more. Children deserve to see themselves represented in all facets of life, including the holidays and Christmas, for those that celebrate.
