I Used to Be Famous By Tara Luebbe and Becky Cattie, Illustrated by Joanne Lew-Vriethoff (2019) – Hardcover
In this sequel to I Am Famous, Kiely notices that her new baby sister is receiving all of the attention she once garnered! But she struggles to understand why. Her baby sister can’t act, dance, or sing like she can. Yet, her family contines to ignore her! Kiely soon warms up to her sister’s innocence and cuteness and realizes how it is essential for her to be a good role model for her baby sister. Kiely learns to embrace her new sister and share the spotlight! Lew-Vriethoff’s illustrations add to the playfulness of the story.
Take-away message: Teaches children how to be accepting of new siblings and that greater things may arise through cooperation rather than competition. Also, an older sibling must be good role models for their younger siblings.
