In My Heart By Mackenzie Porter, Illustrated by Jenny Lovlie (2020) – board book
This is such a sweet book that reads like a love-letter from a working mom to her daughter. It’s a must-have book for any working mom that has ever felt an ounce of guilt for being away from their little-one. Set in rhyming text, the mommy in this book shares all of the ways that she still thinks about her daughter throughout the day, from the minute she drops her off at daycare to the moment she walks through the door to pick her up.
Lovlie’s cover art is so endearing. It’s such a sweet image that conveys the love between mother and daughter. Her soft yet high-contrast color palette adds to the charm of the poetic verse and keeps my daughter’s attention throughout. She loves this board book!
Take-away message: No mommy guilt here! The message conveyed is that no matter how long or far apart you are from mommy, she is always thinking of you and loves you to pieces!
